SBT won against Viva Kerala in the final of the 9th Bhagath Soccer Cup via tie-breaker. Viva can consider themselves pretty unlucky as they looked like certain winners until the 88th minute.

Two minutes from time however, Kerala state player Asif Saheer equalised defender Sylla Mansa's goal in the first half. In the following penalty shoot-out, the match was lost as both Conte and Firoz missed their spot-kicks.

 

According to coach Sreedharan, the team did not play as well as in the previous matches, but nevertheless showed some good spirit. Today's striking department consisted of Mohammad Conte and Shibin Lal as the team's main striker, C.S. Sabeeth has suffered a hairline-fracture prior to the match. This is very bad news because coach Sreedharan is short of good alternatives upfront. It will take at least one month until Sabeeth will be fully fit. It hast to be seen whether a replacement striker will be signed. Attacking midfielder Conte had to play as a striker today, but his performance was not upto the mark.

 

Around 3500 spectators watched the match at Viva's practice ground in Eloor.
