Viva Kerala were on course to post a big win in their opening match after a first half brace from young striker Shibinlal.  Viva may have gone into the lemon break further ahead and were rampant when the half time whistle blew.  The break gave Mohammedan a chance to regroup and complacency seemed to creep in to the young Viva players.  The second half was evenly matched and Mohammedan closed the gap with a headed goal from a free kick.  Viva were again exposed for their inability to defend high balls as Mohammedan equalised with another header.  It is surprising that one of the tallest teams in the I-league concede so many headed goals. 
Rueben Sanyo almost won it for the local side when he went around the keeper but his shot was cleared off the line.  In the last minute Rueben hit the cross bar from a corner but he failed to score and was taught a lesson in finishing by his young strike partner.
