Viva Kerala wants to put up a good show against the other Kolkata giant Mohun Bagan in its second I-League match.
After losing the first match 0-2 against East Bengal, Viva will now try to go for points. It is a tricky situation though; favourite Mohun Bagan has also lost its first match and is now desperate for a revenge and their players will be boasting that extra-motivation. However, there is absolutely no reason why Viva should not be equally confident. The team showed that it can play as a unit against strong contenders East Bengal. In the end, it was their inexperience at top level football which did them in.But everyone was suprised by their crisp passing game and activity upfront. But the main reason for the strong show against EB was the sturdy defence led by captain Khelemba Singh. Against the formidable strike force of Barreto, Bhutia and Lalawmpuia, the defence has to be even more alert and compact. Barreto however is likely to miss the match because of an injury. "If we can pull off an equally good game against Mohun Bagan, then there might be some reward for us", explained coach A.M. Sreedharan. The seasoned coach is likely to field the same first eleven as in Viva's first match against East Bengal. You will now also find photos of Viva's Kolkata campaign in the VIVAGallery.
