Viva Kerala beat Malabar United by 1-0 to reach the finals of the Bhagath Soccer Cup in Ernakulam. An improved performance assured coach Sreedharan's team a slot in the ultimate match which is likely to be held on January 6th.

The all-important goal was scored by young striker C.S. Sabeeth in the fourth minute of the match. According to coach Sreedharan, the team put on a much better display compared to the first match against Golden Threads, but he was very disappointed with the conversion rate of chances. "We should have won by 5-0, to be frankly. But our players are young and could not keep their cool in front of the goal. Adding to this, M.P. Sakeer missed a penalty which could have eased the pressure. 

 

Viva Kerala played a much better game today. Everybody did well and put in a lot of effort. Viva dominated the match and Malabar United was constrained by the boys game and movement. 

In the fourth minute, Sabeeth received a pass from his partner Shibin, dribbled past experienced Jaseer Karnath and Jithesh and found the net.

 

Viva will now travel to Perinthalmanna to take part in the Kerala State Club Championship.
