In the I League clubs meeting that was held at the Football House, Dwarka, Delhi, AIFF General Secretary Alberto Colaco chaired the meeting with all the representatives from 14 clubs marking their presence for the meeting on Friday.

 

This years I League which wil be once again sponsored by ONGC, will have 182 matches played in 26 rounds, with the last date of submitting the entry forms being September 20th. The opening match of the I League will be played on October 1st where last years winners Churchill Brothers will face Mahindra United in Mumbai. This year’s edition will also witness teams from Kerala and Shillong making their presence felt in the League. 
The other decisions taken in the meeting were all the clubs have been given a two year time to fulfill all the criteria’s set by AFC. Also it was decided that in case the issue of two teams vying for a common place then the result of their matches would be taken into consideration and not the goal difference.
Also this year’s edition will give clubs an opportunity to register three foreigners and one Asian player apart from having a player of Indian origin in their squad. Apart from this the clubs will be entitled to register four doctors and two physios apart from the seven regulated officials who travels with the team.
Security of players and officials was discussed and it was decided that a security committee would be formed before the start of the League and they would visit all the venues for an inspection.
