Barely one month ahead of the scheduled start of the I-League Division 2, new trouble with Viva's foreign recruits emerged. As per today's status, the team is without any foreign player.
Guinean defender Sylla Mansa, who played a stellar role in Viva's season so far, had to return to Africa because his visa could not be extended. Adding to this, due to certain formalities, Viva is unable to sign Nigerian forward Baba Tunde who last year was registered with Salgaocar SC.
Questions arise why and how this could happen. Of course, the directors are pulling some strings to recruit two foreign players at the eleventh hour, but this is less than optimal for the team's preparation.
Viva Kerala's performance in the coming 2nd Division is crucial and this situation - whoever may be responsible for it - endangers the club's progress in India's football circuit.
