For the 3rd consecutive home match there was a problem that prevented the match from starting on time. Before the Pune game there was a delay due to the absence of medical equipment.
Players and fans were left waiting for an hour for the floodlights to come on. The match was twice delayed by 30 minutes and when the players came out again at 7.30 expecting to finally play the match, the captains were informed that it would be postponed till the next day. Responsibility The Kozhikode District Football Association are responsible for staging the matches and their incompetence has badly let down the Viva Kerala fans and players. Since the recent floodlight failure for the JCT match the number of fans has decreased. It has been suggested that fans who travel from Malapuram have been reluctant to make the trip in case the floodlights fail again. Lessons learned Some lessons were learned since the previous floodlight failure: Police were present and prevented angry fans from entering the field. The police were later required to protect the KDFA offices from fans seeking an explanation. Announcements were made to explain the situation to the fans but only after Viva manager K. Prasanth had requested it. The floodlights were tested the previous day and presumably worked. The match will now be played tomorrow, Friday 29th, at 4pm.
