Viva Kerala beat WRS, Edathala, even though the latter could withstand the pressure until the 80th minute.
Then, it was midfielder Rahul who netted Viva's first. After that, Devadasan (88th) and Sabeeth (90) rounded off the tally.
It was very difficult for Viva's attacking department to get through the concrete-like defence of WRS. At times, WRS defended their goal with eight players in their own 16 yard-box. A normal game was thus not possible as WRS just simply destroyed any build-up.
Coach Sreedharan decided to field some of his reserve players, but only when Saleel entered the pitch, the complexion of the game changed. Until then, Devadasan was fielded as an attacking left midfielder. Once Saleel got into the game, Devadasan moved up to his natural position.
After conceding the first goal in the 80th minute, WRS had to open up and thus Viva could score two more goals. There was also a scaring moment for the team management when young defender K. Noushad collided with an opponent and was unconcious for a few moments. However and most importantly, he felt fit again after ten minutes, but nevertheless had to be substituted.
The next assignment would be on February 18th against M.A. College.
Viva: Arun - Jain Raj, Noushad (Sajesh), Sathish, Shihab - Siraj, Rahul, Lalu, Devadasan - Shibin (Saleel), Sabeeth.
