A spiritless and almost non-existant Viva Kerala lost 0-5 to Churchill Brothers.
A listless and very dissappointing performance by the men in blue. Viva Kerala never posed a threat to Churchill Brothers as all their departments looked a pale shadow of their previous outings: The defenders were always too late, the midfield failed to combine well and fast and the strikers were busy trying to latch onto the boring long-ball supply rather than getting the better of the Churchill defenders and shooting at the goal. As early as in the 10th minute, Mboyo Iyomi scored for Churchill off a header. Barely 5 mintues later, the striking duo of Odafe and Iyomi posed another threat for the Viva defence, but thanks to Nelson Viva did not conceed a goal. Viva Kerala could not manage to hold on to the ball for some passes and gave possesion away far too easy. A real headache were their miss-passes and the unoriented defence. Between the 30th and 35th minute, Churchill had numerous chances to increase the lead and had it not be for M.V. Nelson, the scoreline would have looked differently. Defender George Tutu received a yellow card and will thus miss the next match against JCT. In the 38th minute, Baba Tunde came close, but his shot was blocked by Naoba Singh and Gouramangi in tandem. The first half was concluded with a freekick by Adama which went wide off the target. Viva Kerala came out in the second half a bit more confindently and Adama had a chance to score off a Satish Kumar cross, but his header went wide. In the 52nd minute, Churchill's Robert increased the lead off a brilliant run on the left flank. Once again, the defence was way too slow. Same story when Odafe made it 3-0 after he was nicely fed by Iyomi. With 15 minutes to go, Mboyo Iyomi scored his second when he outfoxed Nelson and slotted the ball into the net. The issue was sealed in the 94th minute when Odafe rounded off a solo with his second goal of the day (5-0). Viva Kerala did not even have a shot on goal and very deservedly lost the match. Churchill played fast and entertaining football and the Viva Kerala players, especially the defence, were mere spectators. Towards the end of the game, Churchill toyed around with Viva. It was shocking to see such an unspirited and unmotivated approach by Viva Kerala. Viva: Nelson - Rose, Khelemba, Tutu, Das - Tabia - Satish Kumar (63' Shaleel), Birua, Lalu (67' Jotin Singh) - Adama (85' Santa Singh), Baba Tunde.
