vivanews.jpgThe young Viva Kerala team is still gearing up for the season ahead in Udyogamandal, but lately experienced some difficulties. It was certainly a good lesson for those young players which recently joined the team.
On Friday, the team played an exhibition match against M.A. College, Kothamangalam. But to the suprise of everyone - including the directors of the club who were present - the college boys managed to hold Viva Kerala to a 0-0 draw. One certainly did not expect this. But assistant coach Binu George defends his young guards: "The players were very exhausted because of the morning session and weight training sessions", said the young coach. "Adding to this, young players like Sabeeth muffed up chanced because of their inexperience. We should be patient, because the boys are still learning at this level. Nevertheless, we played very well, but failed to convert the chances."

Some days later, the team made amends by beating a local selection 5-0. According to team manager Prasanth, this selection was stronger than the college team. Rahul played a good game as did young defender K. Noushad who excelled in man-to-man marking. The team overall showed an improved performance as the coordination and movement on the pitch was superior. Among the goal scorers were central midfielders Rahul and Manoharan as well as the two young strikers Sabeeth and Karma.
