Dear Fans,
we now have nearly one month to prepare for our Federation Cup matches which take place in Bangalore. It will be a tough assignment as it will be our first competitive match this season. Although we have set our goals on the 2nd Division I-League, the Fed Cup proves to be a valuable experience for the players.
I am very happy with the progress that the boys are making. After two months, they have reached the peak of the physical fitness. We have to maintain this level as the matches will only be getting tougher for us. So far, we have only played friendly matches against local teams. But our last match was against Cochin Port trust and my boys were in total control of the game: we smashed the Port trust team by 6-1.
Nevertheless, we shall play against stronger opponents like SBT, Titanium and KSEB in November.
On another note, A.S. Firoze is adding much needed experience and leadership to the team. He is most likely to be signed in the second transfer window which opens at the beginning of November. I have also selected a goalkeeping coach, namely Saji Joy, who has been working with our goalies for the last ten days. Saji is a former goalkeeper of FC Kochin and Vasco Sports Club and I am sure that our young keepers will benefit from him.
More in my next column!
Best regards,
A.M. Sreedharan
Chief Coach
