By defeating Goa's SESA FA with a 2-0 scoreline, Viva Kerala has put itself into a favourable position for the remaining matches of the 2nd Division I-League.
Everyone expected an interesting battle as the two teams are not so different: young, fast and hungry for success.
SESA started on a brighter note and dominated the first minutes of the match. They were unlucky not to score. Then Viva started to control the proceedings and were rewarded in the 35th minute when India U-19 striker Sabeeth was fed by winger Siraj. The attacker made full use if the ball as he shot it into the net.
It was only in the 9th minute of the second half that Viva Kerala managed to extend the lead. Nigerian Baba Tunde headed home an cross ball from the right. It has to be said that Baba Tunde, as in earlier matches, failed to exploit the chances that came his way. This can cost us dearly in matches against Salgaocar or Pune FC.
SESA made some forays into Viva's half, but the team managed to defend the advantage until the final whistle.
Viva: Shahinlal - Sajesh, Noushad, Rasaq, Sathish Kumar - Siraj (Manoharan), Lalu, Sakeer, Saleel (Rahul) - Baba Tunde, Sabeeth.
