Tournament priorities 1 Year ago Karma: 0
Viva have a lot of tournaments this season. This is great as when not in Ileague div 1 there are not enough games. Therefore Ileague must be a top priority. However, is it necessary to play in the district league? The state league is a matter of pride but I would rather see a state cup with Ileague teams given a bye to the QF.
I would prioritise Viva's tournaments like this:
Ileague
Federation cup
IFA shield
Durand Cup
Kerala state league
District league

What do you think?

Viva does have a lot of games this season including 26 I-League fixtures...which is great and being the premier event in India must be top priority.
However, we also need to evaluate our chances in the I-League this season...which makes it equally important for Viva to go for silverware in the other tournaments.
The Federation Cup is as important as the I-League as the winner makes it to the AFC Cup!!
The IFA Shield is like a warm-up tournament, a chance to try out new players, check how the team gels together, etc.
The State League has to be a league comprising professional teams because it will be a great opportunity for the reserve and youth team players to get some playing time. In fact, as a rule, only the reserve and youth players should be given a chance in the Cochin Premier League. This is what most of the clubs do!! You cant play the first team day-in day-out.

Jason:

You sound very logical and practical with your answer, which is always missed in the chaos of managing the club. I hope the folks at Viva does something similar and does a better job at managing the club.

Hey, I am doing some research on football in Kerala - the history, its current setup and future. If you have a few minutes, would you reach me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , please.

I-League and only I-league.I would say focus on surviving I-league.I don't want to see them relegated again.
AIM to win all the HOME matches and draw the away matches.

The home support going behind.get the ground works proper.

The most vital-goal keeping-please concede silly early goals.
